And just like that, it’s time to reveal Blue Star Direct’s favourite campaigns for the year!
As always, we’ve stayed true to our selection criteria. They each tell a story that transports us away from our day-to-day life and into a land of emotion, humour and entertainment. What more could you ask for in under 2 minutes?
Here they are – we hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
1. Myer – Saving Santa’s Star (Australia)
Having trekked across mountains and through blizzards last year in their quest to find Christmas, Elf and his gang are back! This year these very cute and most unlikely ornaments embark on yet another journey to help Santa find his way.
We like this campaign for another very good reason. Blue Star DIRECT’s specialist data and digital print team produced 40,000 personalised Christmas catalogues to loyal Myer One customers on behalf of IPMG. Our efforts were acknowledged when IPMG won the Myer Marketing supplier of the year award.
Agency: Clemenger BBDO
2. Aldi – Stop and Smell the Savings (Australia)
In a new campaign from BMF, Aldi is encouraging shoppers to slow down and ‘smell the savings’ – notice the unexpected and overlooked products at the grocery store.
3. John Lewis – Buster the Boxer (UK)
Let’s face it, nothing will come close to 2014’s Monty the Penguin (in our humble opinion) but year-on-year John Lewis never disappoints with their amazing and highly anticipated Christmas ads. So, what do you get when you have a boxer dog, called Buster, two foxes, a badger, a hedgehog and a squirrel – bouncing on a trampoline? The 2016 John Lewis TVC. Enjoy!
4. Fiat teams up with Zoolander (USA)
Derek Zoolander shows off his best Blue Steel looks to the traffic camera, waiting to get that perfect shot. When you look as good as Zoolander behind the wheel of the FIAT 500X crossover, driving while hot comes standard. This ad is ridiculously clever!
5. Boots Christmas – The Gift of Beauty (UK)
Every year, in the UK around half a million women* sacrifice their Christmas Day to support their communities, whether it’s paramedics, firefighters, volunteers, nurses or carers. As a big thank you, the UK’s largest pharmacy chain, Boots wanted to give some of these inspirational women an early Christmas present.
Boots invited 45 of these extraordinary real women for a day of luxury and pampering before a spectacular ‘reveal’ to their delighted friends and family. Watch the Boots Christmas TV advert 2016 to share in their fabulous experience. Australia’s very own national treasure, Kylie Minogue teamed up with Boots and sings the soundtrack.
