Off the back of a rigorous tender process, Blue Star Direct have been awarded the contract which will see us responsible for a significant scanning project for Mackay City Council. The sizeable project involves the document scanning of all of the Council’s House Connection Plans, dating back from the 1970s. This work will stretch over three years and will digitise approximately 17,000 files.
This is important work for the Mackay City Community. By converting these records into a digital format, the Council gain efficiencies in accessing this data quickly and easily, thereby improving the service to the community. But more importantly, the Council is able to eliminate the risk of the records being lost or destroyed by flood or fire.
With Blue Star Direct already partnering over 45 local government councils, the addition of Mackay City, further strengthens and diversifies our offering. The move from physical to digital record keeping is a sign of the times and a shift that is being implemented retrospectively across a multitude of government departments. Blue Star Direct will look to take on similar projects as we add to our expertise in this area.
Managing Director of Blue Star Direct John Stewart says “we’re proud to take on a piece of work that will have such a positive impact on the Mackay community and we’re very much looking forward to building our relationship with the Council over the next three years”.
